Prop 60: Condoms in Pornographic Films Initiative

7.08.2016 | Initiatives

Ballot Title

Adult Films. Condoms. Health Requirements. Initiative Statute.

This measure would see performers in adult films using condoms during filming of sexual intercourse. It would also require adult film producers to pay for performer vaccinations, testing, and medical examinations related to sexually transmitted infections. Also, producers need to obtain a state health license prior to filming and to post condom requirements at film sites. The measure would also allow anyone to enforce violations against noncomplying performers.

Arguments For

“This is a worker health and safety issue. The industry has a responsibility to protect their employees.” – Derrick Burts, adult film employee

Arguments Against

“This initiative is dangerous to adult performers, sets a precedent for other workers to be sued, and will force tax revenues and jobs out of state. We should not allow adult performers to be harassed simply because someone doesn’t like what they do. California law should protect workers from harassment, not sanction it.” – Mike Stabile, Californians Against Worker Harassment
